Heavenly Wisdom For Earthly Living Part 2

Scripture: Proverbs 2: 1-9

This is the second part of a rather important and intriguing subject. In our previous blog post we saw the great need to "SEARCH FOR WISDOM as a hidden treasure" (Proverbs 2: 4). In this segment we want to consider THE SOURCE OF WISDOM and THE SUCCESS OF WISDOM.

Proverbs 2: 6 says, "For the Lord gives wisdom: out of His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. If one seriously desires to experience the ambience of Heavenly Wisdom, he must go first and foremost to God Himself with whom all wisdom dwells in fullness.

James 1: 5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given him."

Proverbs 4: 20 - 22, "My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole being."

One would not be remiss to read verse 22 above, thusly: "...for they are the delight and fullness of life on every dimension, and health in every realm...spirit, soul and body."

God gives us wisdom through His Word. The Bible is one of the primary means by which God reveals Himself (His character, His nature, HIs purposes, His methods and His power) to us. It was the basic medium by which He revealed Himself to men prior to the birth of His Son Jesus in the earth...and it is still the primary means for revealing Himself to us since the resurrection and ascension of His Son.

2 Timothy 3: 16, 17: "All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness...that the man of God may be adequate and equipped for every good work."

1 Corinthians 1: 30: "But by His doing, you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

God also gives wisdom through anointed and experienced men and women who have diligently applied themselves in the art of "...growing up into Christ Jesus." It is very wise to take heed to such men and women, to surround yourself by such anointed and experienced ones and to draw near to them when they are teaching and expounding on the Word of God.

Seek out those who have demonstrated success and wisdom in areas where you may have a need and are struggling. For instance, if you are having problems handling finances, seek out those who demonstrate maturity and success in that field.
Read their books, attend their seminars and heed their wisdom until you are able to glean insight and wisdom from your own study and understanding of those vital principles.

Even though "...wisdom belongs to God," and He is the source and dispenser of it, He has hidden it in His Word for those who will apply themselves diligently and righteously to that Word. In essence, while we may learn from others who have successfully gleaned and proven the Word of God, we must also apply ourselves and not become dependent on them.
God wants you to discover His truths and make personal applications of them in your own life.

Regarding THE SUCCESS OF WISDOM, let us look as Proverbs 2: 7: "He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; {He is} a shield to those who walk in integrity.

Ecclesiastes 7: 19: "Wisdom makes one wise man more powerful than ten rulers in a city.

Men in high places can do a lot for you, but even ten powerful, well-placed men cannot do for you what God-given Wisdom can do for you.

Proverbs 3: 1 - 8: "My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity...
5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
7) Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones." (NIV)

Proverbs 3: 13 - 18: "Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she (wisdom) is more profitable than gold; She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
16) Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed." (NIV)

Proverbs 3: 21-26: "My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble;
24) When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared."

Proverbs 4: 7- 9: "Wisdom is supreme; therefore, get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her and she will honor you. She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor."
